Administrative Law Lawyer

In Canada, we recognise 'the rule of law', which is grounded in a basic idea that all individuals and institutions (including governments) are beholden to the law of the land. No person or group – public or private – can act outside the constraints of our rules and regulations. Administrative law concerns the actions and decisions of government agencies.

In the 21st century, you – as an individual or business – are more likely to appear before an administrative tribunal than in court. Your legal rights will be adjudicated by an administrative decision-maker rather than a judge. These decision-makers, in settings such as a labour board, professional regulatory body or human rights commission, are, by the government legislation, created and given authority to hear and decide cases in which they are seen to have some expertise. Our law demands they give everyone a fair hearing and come to reasonable decisions based on careful attention to facts.
